Pride and Mistakes

Nobody is free from committing mistakes, be they petty or enormous.

Nobody shall ever learn how to improve his ways or do away with bad attitude unless there is an admission that a mistake has been committed, hence, the adage “learn from mistakes”.

While some are humble enough to admit their mistakes, the rest are overwhelmed by their pride… they just refuse to do it. The refusal is like a chain that holds them back from moving on.

The mistakes we made are among the steps we took towards our destiny. Refusing then, in admitting our mistakes would simply mean that we are stagnant. The arrogant cannot accept the fact that as a human being, he or she is not perfect.

Pride feeds on adoration of accumulated wealth, dizzying success, or plain appalling attitude. The arrogant filthy rich thinks, his money can buy anything, including power to hide mistakes. The success-intoxicated man thinks that he can do just anything better than anybody else, otherwise he could have not succeeded. And, there’s the simply conceited who sees himself as the only rightful- thinking creation of God, with the rest, wallowing in mistakes.

I think, the best thing to do, is evaluate what we have done and said at the end of each day as we live. It is important to know if we have done anything that could have displeased others, hence, displeased Him, too. That is the reason why He gave us brains….so that we can analyze.

                        

The Evil in Man

The evil in man makes him salivate at all opportunities for exploitation… just anything in this world.  In this regard, inventions with good intentions are used to sow destruction, such as even helpful drugs, gadgets, etc.

The dynamite is supposed to be used for smashing big boulders into bits, but is being used in illegal fishing and so many other damaging purposes. The cough syrup is supposed to alleviate the respiratory ailment but is used by unscrupulous youth to get “high”. Sedative drugs are downed with beer or liquor to as “downers”. An ingredient in making fertilizer is also being used to make explosive. Nail and screws are used as fillings in home-made bombs. Cellphones are used to send harmful messages by evil-minded selfish ego-trippers and to trigger home-made bombs, the internet or the social media, for that matter, is used by the people with devilish character. Etc.

Despite the very obvious positive impression and intent of anything, the evil in man makes him perceive even the teeny-weeny strain of a negative flaw and expand it into exaggerated proportion with the purpose of ruining the whole. Examples are the well-intended blogs ruined by nonsensical comments, the laws which are circumvented for illegal purpose, etc.

As regards the laws and rules, the evil in man makes him see gainful and selfish opportunities in the flaws or defects. Concern here are the lawmakers themselves and those who are supposed to implement them. Extortion is what the evil in man wants to happen. The evil in man cannot even be suppressed by the gained knowledge from universities, as many of those with devilish mind are bred in such institutions!

What Achievements Can Do

I have been blogging about achievers and their success, and I would like to add that such feat could generate the following:

There is no problem with the positive effects of achievements such as admiration and satisfaction. The problem is with envy, as it may result to:

Bashing and harmful jokes are the negative “gains” from the high technology that rules life today. Simply said, anybody can create hundreds of identity in the internet and use them for malicious intent, and SIM cards can be bought from sidewalk peddlers for as low as Php15, already with free text and calls to be used in sending anonymous messages or making calls to poor victims. On the other hand, the development of ill feeling towards the achiever occurs among selfish people who want everything in life at all cost. Their ego made them feel that only they are capable of succeeding in life.

Many successful lives have been ruined by the egoistic and selfish people who cannot stand the achievement of others…that is one of the reasons why the world is beset with disharmony. Man has no choice but to live with that reality. Meanwhile, what the achievers can do is thank the Lord for their success and restrain themselves from wishing bad karma for their detractors for it may just happen as dictated by the “Golden Rule”.

Ang Pinaniniwalaan ay Dapat Gawin

Marami ang may gustong maging “in” sa lahat ng bagay, kasama na diyan ang tungkol sa mga bagay na ispirituwal. Yong iba ay dumadalo sa mga weekend preaching ng mga sikat na evangelists, dahil alam nila na may mga dumadalo ding celebrities. At lalung-lalo kung may slot ito sa TV, kaya sikat, magandang pag-usapan sa mga party. Para bang sinabi nila na dahil okey sa mga celebrities ang preacher at may TV slot, okey ito sigurado. Ito yong mga excited sa pagkuwento na ang preacher ay magaling dahil mga de-kotse pa nga ang dumadalo, mga sikat na tao, mga artista.

Ang mga sini-share ng mga preachers na ito ay ganoon lang din naman, mula pa noong magsimula ang Kristiyanismo hanggang ngayong may mga pari at mga pastor na, na ang iba ay nasobrahan yata ng “paniniwala” kaya naging makasalanan na rin. Lahat ay tungkol sa pagmamahal sa Diyos at kapwa. Bakit kailangan pang makarinig ng salita ng ibang tao upang gawin ito, ganoong marami na tayong nakikita sa ating paligid na dapat ay gamitan nito? Ilang libong taon na mula nang sabihin ito ni Hesus, nababasa sa Bibliya, naririnig sa mga simbahan….hindi pa rin ba natin naiintindihan?

Marami sa mga ganitong mga spiritual kuno ay ni wala ngang concern sa mga miyembro ng kanilang pamilya, lalo na mga anak. Marami diyan na hindi na natakot sa pagsabi na pagod na sila sa pagiging tatay at nanay nila, ganoong may mga anak pa silang maliliit. Nirereklamo ang masamang ugali ng anak…kaya yong isang nag-open sa akin ay binara ko ng, “bakit hindi mo tinuruan ng magandang ugali ang mga bata noong maliit pa lang sila?”.  Dinagdagan ko pa ng pasaring na alangan namang kapitbahay pa ang magtuturo sa mga anak niya. Mayroon diyang nag-aalaga ng mga hayop at halaman, hindi naman inaasikaso na mabuti, dahil ang gusto lang pala ay ayaw patalo sa mga kapitbahay na may mga ganito ring alaga. Ang inggit ay isang napakasamang ugali, hindi man ituro ni Hesus….common sense lang ang kailangan.

Nakakapanindig-balahibo ang ugali ng iba na ang pakay lang pala sa pag-attend ng mga religious activities, tulad ng Misa at weekend preaching sa mga kilalang venues ay upang magdispley ng bagong damit, ang iba backless at plunging neckline pa, pati mukha ay may makapal na make-up! Ang iba, ginagawang dahilan ang pagdalo sa ganitong mga pagtitipon, para sa susunod pa nilang “family bonding” kuno….isang biyahe na nga lang naman. Pero masama pa rin ang dating ng dahilan, dahil sa halip na magkaroon ng sincerity sa pakay ng pagdalo sa religious na pagtitipon, ang isip ay nakatuon na sa kung saang restaurant kakain pagkatapos. Para ring “paggunita” sa pasko na nakalimutan nang ito ay tungkol sa questionable na birthday ito ni Hesus….dahil ang sa isip nila tuwing pasko ay mesang puno ng pagkain, gifts, kumukutitap na bumbilya, Christmas tree, etc.
