The detractors of Duterte seem to be at the end of their wits on how to push the guy in the corner. Before they could think of any unbecoming act that they imagine or heard to have been done by him, the wise president is already in front of the microphone announcing to the world what he has been doing and what gifts he received in all candid honesty. Still, in desperation, his detractors use his candid honesty against him. Despite Duterte’s manifestation of honesty coupled with the Visayan witty humor, the detractors are saying that he is not serious in what he says. They forgot that Duterte is a Minadanoan with various ethic blood flowing in his vein, but brought up in a Visayan surrounding. As the detractors are blinded by hate, they failed to discern that Duterte uses humor only when he feels “at home” with his audience during which he also uses Davao-Visayan dialect.

Duterte was honest about his election campaign funds by admitting that he had a “surplus” which he divulged to be used to help the calamity victims. The story about his supposedly millions in a bank, died a natural death when he gave authority to the bank to reveal his records. He admitted to have had two wives, but today just lives only with one after having been separated legally from his first wife who remains close to him, being the mother of his grown up children. He breached the protocol by inviting the Japanese emperor to his home and showed his bedroom with all its simple furnishing highlighted by the mosquito net. He is vocal about his frugal meals, especially, ginisang monggo. He admitted to have killed rapists. Who among the government officials can be that honest, that put the people he deals with, at ease. In short, the guy is not a hypocrite, unlike SOME of the Roman Catholic “leaders” and MOST of the government officials who are corrupt and have unashamedly remained in their posts.

Trillanes and de Lima failed to pin him down with the extra-judicial killing issue which has dogged him since he was the mayor of Davao for three consecutive terms. The arrogance and intellectual pretentions of de Lima did not help her even when she was the Commissioner of Human Rights until she became Secretary of the DOJ. Trillanes on the other hand, relied on “second hand” information – all rumors. He literally pushed Matobato behind the bars when he made the latter testify against Duterte which boomeranged as his sworn testimonies of killings were used against him. And, now Trillanes is using another guy, who is likely to land in jail, too, when he duplicated the blunder of Matobato. Still, Trillanes is threatening to bring out four more “witnesses”….all desperate moves, as at this point in time, he could already feel his downfall when he steps out of the Senate in less than two years from now.

Joining the fracas is another desperate political personality whose “victory” as Vice-President is highly questionable – Lenny/Lenie Robredo. As she proved to be a poor researcher, she relied  on rumors from “friends”, especially, on the latest issue about the “palit-ulo”, literally, “change of head”, which means, if the police fail to pick up their target drug personality in his home, they simply pick another member of the family to take his or her place which is ridiculous. And to magnify this credulity, she even shares the baseless information with the United Nations, as if she is dealing with a local fiscal!. Her act is very unethical, especially, being the second highest official of the land.

The world will definitely laugh at Robredo as her statements imply her defense of the criminal drug personalities who are killed extra-judicially. Due process proved useless in the past in dealing with the drug problem in the country, thereby, necessitating, an “iron hand”. In this regard, the Filipinos saw in Duterte their hope based on his cleansing of Davao City. Robredro and her cohorts on the other hand, want the incorrigible drug addicts, drug pushers, drug lords, rapists and robbers go scot-free because “they have the right to live….how about the life of their victims that they have taken away?

This woman from Naga has not done anything about the rape victims of the drug addicts… not even for the bread winners of families who have become victims of these trigger-happy and  mentally-deranged criminals. She also joined hands with the equally imprudent old Roman Catholic bishops whose advocacy is “to stop the killing”….Christians kuno who do not even bother to explain to their Roman Catholic flock why the criminals are getting killed and who their victims are. FROM ALL INDICATIONS, THESE OLD BISHOPS ARE ASHAMED TO SAY THAT THE EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLING VICTIMS THAT THEY ARE SUPPORTING ARE INCORREGIBLE DRUG ADDICTS, DRUG PUSHERS, DRUG LORDS, RAPISTS, ROBBERS….AND THEIR VICTIMS ARE INNOCENT YOUNG GIRLS AND BREAD WINNERS OF POOR FAMILIES!


THE AFOREMENTIONED GUYS AND GAL ARE SO DESPERATELY OBSESSED TO PUT DOWN DUTERTE…BUT AS THE SAYING GOES, “YOU CANNOT PUT A GOOD MAN DOWN”….ADD TO THAT THE SIMPLE WORD, “HONEST ”.

OUTDATED NA OBISPONG KATOLIKO

Sa halip na ang nakasulat sa mga tarpaulin ng mga maiingay at ma-dramang obispong katoliko ay, “HUWAG KANG PUMATAY” na ang tinutukoy ay si Duterte, dapat ang nakasulat ay, “TIGILAN NA ANG PAGGAMIT AT PAGBENTA NG DROGA” na ang tinutukoy ay ang mga drug addict, drug pusher, at drug lord. Ikalat nila ito sa lahat ng sulok ng bansa. I-require ang mga simbahan nila sa bawat bayan at lunsod na gumawa. Dapat ay naghahatak sila ng mga tao patungo sa simbahan sa pamamagitan ng pagpapakita ng mga ugaling dapat tularan, sa halip na tingnan lang ang paghihirap ng mga nagugutom!

Dapat ay utusan din ng mga maiingay na Obispo ang mga pari nila na pumunta sa mga depressed areas at gumawa ng sarili nilang “plead campaign”. Kasama ang mga Barangay officials, ipinun nila ang mga suspected at drug addicts na ayaw magbago sa basketball court. Para marami ang pumunta, mamigay sila ng bigas at sardinas…. at condom. Lumuhod ang mga pari sa harap ng mga inipong addict at drug pushers, pwede rin silang humagulhol. Yan ang dapat nilang gawin kung gusto nilang mag-drama upang ipakita sa mga tao na silang mga naka-sotana ay si Hesus dito sa mundo. Sa totoo lang, para sa akin, ang similarity nila kay Hesus ay ang damit na mahaba na kung tawagin nila ay sotana. Pero ang mga Muslim ay nagsusuot din nito, at hindi sila nagkukunwaring si Hesus!

Dapat ay tumigil na sila sa kaiingay dahil putok naman sa mga balita ang tungkol sa ginagawang rehabilitation centers at tumulong pa nga ang China. Sa kabila ng problema sa budget, pinipilit ng gobyerno na ikalat ang mga rehab centers sa buong bansa. Bakit hindi tumulong ang simbahang katoliko sa proyektong ito dahil malaki naman ang kinikita nila? Kung ayaw ng mga obispong punahin sila kaya nadadamay ang BUONG SIMBAHANG KATOLIKO, tumigil na sila dahil napapahiya lang ang ibang Obispong matatalino at may malawak na pang-unawa!

Bulag sa katotohanan ang mga maiingay na Obispo sa katotohanang may mga pasaway talagang mga drug addict at drug pusher na ayaw magbago na nagbebenta pa rin ng recycled drugs. Maraming kuwento ang lumutang tungkol sa mga sumuko at nagpalista bilang pagsunod sa panawagan ng gobyerno pero ang ginawa nila ay bilang pakisama sa mga kaibigang taga-Barangay, pakitang-tao lang ang nangyari. Ibig sabihin, hindi sila seryoso. Sa isang operation ay may nakumpiska pa ngang droga na milyones ang halaga. Lahat ng iyan ay laman ng mga diyaryo at nababalita sa radyo. Ang gusto yata ng mga obispong ito ay pumikit at magsawalang-bahala na lamang ang mga pulis kung tawagan ng mga kapitbahay mismo ng mga drug addict at drug pusher na nirereklamo.

Bukod tanging si Bishop Tagle ang tahimik. Kung magbitaw man siya ng salita ay may kabuluhan at angkop ang mensahe. Hindi siya tulad ng ibang tumanda na sa pagsuot ng sotana ay animo wala pa ring alam sa mga tunay na nangyayari sa kapaligiran. Kung sa bagay ay hindi yan nakapagtataka, dahil sino bang pari ang pumupunta sa mga depressed areas upang magpakalat ng mga salita ng Diyos? Ang ibig kong sabihin ay ang mga “tunay” na squatters’ area na ang mga dinadaanan ay maputik at ang mga bahay ay yari sa mga karton, lumang yero, tarpaulin, walang kubeta, walang kuryente at ang mga batang naglalaro sa kalye ay nanlilimahid sa uhog na tumutulo mula sa ilong, walang damit, at bundat ang tiyan dahil sa malnutrition. MAGSALITA TUNGKOL DIYAN ANG MGA YUDI…..NG mga obispong maiingay! Kung may konsisyensiya sila, kalampagin nila ang gobyerno tungkol diyan, lalo na ang DSW, at makipagtulungan!

Bilib pa nga ako sa mga babaeng misyonarya ng ilang simbahang protestante na sumusuyod sa mga sidestreets ng mga depressed areas upang mamigay ng mga babasahin. Ang ibang mga pari naman ng Kristiyanong Orthodox ay nakatira pa mismo sa gitna ng mga lugar na ito, kung saan ay nandoon din ang kanilang maliit na kapilya. Ang mga ministro naman ng mga Christian Churches ay umuupa ng kahit maliit na puwesto upang magamit na sambahan sa mga lugar na malapit sa mga taong mahihirap. Lahat silang nabanggit ko ay hindi nagpapanggap na ang tinatanggap nilang donation na pera ay love offering para sa Diyos kundi tulong sa mga taong ministro na nagsasakripisyo, dahil kailangan din nilang kumain upang mapanaitili ang kalusugan at maipagpatuloy ang kanilang ginagawa…..ganyan lang ka-simple ang paliwanang…walang drama!

ANG MGA MAIINGAY NA OBISPONG KATOLIKO ITO ANG DAPAT ISAMA NG MGA PULIS TUWING MAY RAID SILA. TINGNAN KO LANG KUNG HINDI SILA MAGKANDA-IHI O BAKA MAGKANDA-TAE PA SA KANILANG SOTANA KAPAG NAKIPAGBARILAN NA ANG MGA PULIS SA MGA BANGAG SA DROGA!

Ang “Human Rights” Kuno
na Pinaglalaban ng Ilang Pilipino

Ang “human rights” kung Tagalugin ay “karapatang pangtao”, ibig sabihin ay para sa tao. Sa madaling salita, hindi ito angkop sa mga taong ang ugali ay mala-hayop. Kabilang diyan ang mga rapists, mamatay-tao, holdaper, kidnapper, lalo na mga drug addict na ay pusher pa at mga drug lords. Nawalan sila ng karapatang “makatao” nang gumawa sila ng karumal-dumal na krimen sa kanilang kapwa. Pasalamat sila at kahit papaano ay may batas na nagpo-protekta sa kanila kaya sinasabi ng mga kapanalig nila na dapat ay dalhin sila sa husgado upang patunayan nilang wala silang kasalanan. Ibig sabihin, kahit naaktuhan silang gumawa ng masama kaya pinatay ng nagtanggol sa sarili, ang may kasalanan ay ang nag-self defense pa!

Bago umupo si Duterte ay kalat na ang balita tungkol sa “recycled drugs” na pinabebenta sa mga scavengers, driver, at cigarette vendor ng mga tiwaling pulis sa kalye. Ang mga mahuli namang pusher ay napapakawalan dahil sa “technicalities” ayon naman sa mga tiwaling huwes. Yan ang dahilan kung bakit namamayagpag ang krimen sa Pilipinas dahil talagang “bulag” ang hustisya. Pwedeng sabihin ng iba na wala tayong magagawa dahil nasa ilalim tayo ng demokrasya…fine, pero sana naman ay hindi dumating ang panahong ang nagsasabi nito mismo ang maging biktima ng mga kriminal!

Ang mga sumusunod ay ilan lang sa mga karumal-dumal na nagawa na ng mga kriminal na pilit pinaglalaban ng mga kapanalig nila sa ngalan ng “human rights”:

·        Adik na anak, kapag bangag sa droga ay ginagahasa ang nanay na mahigit 60 na ang edad. Pinagpaparausan niya ang nanay kapag nalibugan na sa pinapanood na video. Walang magawa ang nanay dahil baka siya patayin ng anak.
·        Adik na apo ginagahasa ang lola dahil ang tingin niya dito ay tin-edyer kapag siya ay bangag sa droga. Walang magawa ang lola dahil baka daw bugbugin ang apo niya kapag nakulong kung isumbong niya sa pulis.
·        Tatay na adik na nagalit sa sanggol na anak na iyak nang iyak, habang siya ay sumisinghot ng shabu, kaya hinawakan ang mga paa nito at inihampas sa kalsada.
·        Tatay na bangag sa droga, tinakpan ng unan ang mukha ng sanggol na anak dahil tingin niya dito ay tiyanak.
·        Adik, hinubaran ang asawa at pinaglakad sa kalsada nang ayaw siyang bigyan ng perang pambili ng shabu. Ang pinagkikitaan lang ng asawa ay pagbenta ng sigarilyo at kendi sa bangketa at ang adik na asawa ay nangingikl sa mga jeepney driver.
·        Mga adik na high school students, nanggahasa ng batang babae, pinasakan ng sanga ng ang puke, at tinadtad pa ang katawan.
·        Mga anak-mayamang adik, pinagtripang gahasain ang isang hostess at binuhusan pa ng rugby ang puke at tinadtad ng staple wird ang dalawang suso.
·        Mga anak-mayamang adik pinagtripan ang isang salesman na nagda-drive ng van, ginahasa kaya inabot ng ilang stitches ang puwet dahil napunit.
·        Mag-asawang adik na nang mabangag ay masayang nag-camp fire sa loob ng barung-barong kaya ang compound na may iba pang barung-barong ay naabo.
·        Adik na high school student, palaging ginagahasa ang kanyang ate.
·        Mga nanay na adik, binebenta ang mga anak na tin-edyer, babae man o lalaki sa Avenida.
·        Kumare kong nakatira sa Dagat-dagatan (Malabon), pinasok ng adik na kapitbahay ang tinitirhan at sinaksak silang mag-ina. Mula sa likod ay lumusot hanggang sa harap ng kumare ko ang itak na pinangsaksak sa kanya, mabuti na lang sinuwerte pang mabuhay.
·        Adik na bangag sa Quiapo, nilaslas ang dalawang pulso at habang sumisirit ang dugo ay humahalakhak pang pinapakita sa mga tao.
·        Nanay na adik, pinakukunan ng retrato ang anak na sampung taong gulang sa mga kostumer niya sa pagpuputa sa Avenida, habang ang anak ay pilit niyang pinagma-masturbate.
·        Kilalang artistang bangag sa droga, inihian sa set ng shooting ang isang beteranong actor na kasama sa pelikula.
·        Etc. etc. etc. etc.

Nang mabalita ang resulta ng imbestigasyon ng NBI tungkol sa kamatayan ng nakakatandang Espinosa sa loob ng kulungan at lumabas na “rubout” ang nangyari, maraming text messages ang natanggap ng radio station na nagbalita. Ang mga text ay mula sa mga taga-Samar na nagsabing talagang salot sa buong Samar ang mag-amang Espinosa at nalulungkot sila na maraming hindi nakakaalam ng istorya nila sa Samar. Sa tagal daw ng panahong kontrolado sila ng mag-ama, kalat na kalat ang droga kaya sila yumaman. Dapat nga daw, pati si Kerwin ay patayin na rin.

Ang palaging sinasabi ng mga ungas, dapat daw ay  mga drug lords ang habulin upang makasuhan, sa halip na ang mga drug addict at drug pusher. Paanong hulihin at kasuhan ang mga demonyong drug lords na nasa Bilibid na, pero hanggang ngayon ay nakakapagtransaksyon pa ng droga dahil sa iba’t ibang paraan kahit walang cellphone? Kaya nga ang gusto SANA ni de la Rosa na itigil na rin ang dalaw sa mga ito dahil ang mga bisita nila ang binibigyan na nila ng instruction, pero pag ginawa yan, papalag na naman ang “human rights” advocates….at kontrabida na naman siya at si Duterte! At, paanong hindi sawatahin ang mga drug pushers at drug addicts na ang ginawang pagsuko noong kasagsagan ng panawagan sa kanila ay “palabas” lang pala kaya balik na naman sila sa dating ginagawa?

Madali para sa iba ang magsalita at pumanig sa mga human rights advocates at mga kriminal dahil hindi sila direktang nabiktima, o di kaya kapamilya o kaibigan man lang nila. Wala rin silang nakita, kundi nabasa lamang sa diyaryo at narinig sa TV o radyo. Kaya para sa kanila ay madaling magsabing dapat bigyan ng pagkakataong “makatao” ang mga kriminal na sumira sa buhay ng mga taong nananahimik. Pwede ba ang mga kriminal na ito sa karapatang pangtao lamang, gayong masahol pa sila sa hayop dahil sa mga ginagawa nila?


Ang mga nabanggit na kriminalidad ay nasaksihan ko o sinabi sa akin ng mga kaibigan kong kamag-anak ng mga adik mismo na gumawa ng mga kademonyuhan.

Ang Mga Pinapatay na Drug Users at Pushers

ANG MGA PINAPATAY NA DRUG USERS AT PUSHERS

Batay sa mga binanggit ni Kerwin Espinosa tungkol sa lawak ng pagkasangkot ng kapulisan, nakakabahala na hindi lang pala mga opisyal na nakaupo sa mataas na puwesto ang may kinalaman, kundi pati mga kapulisan sa ilalim. Malinaw na malinaw ang kuwento tungkol sa mga “recycled” na droga – mga drogang bahagi ng nakumpiska ng mga pulis at pinabebenta nila mga “bataan” nilang pushers. Ang mga nasa Maynilang pulis na nagre-recycle ay tinawag na “ninja cops”. Ang mga pushers ay nahahawakan nila sa leeg dahil nahuli na nila ang mga ito bilang mga drug users, kaya mistulang na-black mail upang magbenta ng “recycled” na droga, upang hindi tuluyang makulong.

Naipakita din noon sa TV ang isang witness na taga-Antipolo na nag-utos daw sa kanyang tatay na magbenta ng droga, at kung minsan daw ay sa bahay pa nila gumagamit nito. Mistulang nakalublob sa kumunoy ang tatay nilang pinatay nilang gumagamit din ng droga at ilang beses nang nahuli. Nang mapatay ang tatay nila ay positibo nilang itunuro ang mga pulis.

May mga pinapatay ngayong ayon sa mga kaibigan at kapamilya ay dati daw gumagamit LANG ng droga at sumuko na kaya nakalista sa presinto. Nagtataka lang sila kung bakit pinatay pa at siguradong hindi sindikato ang pumatay sa kanila dahil wala naman daw kilalang big-time pusher ang mga ito. Ang ibang namatay ay mga scavenger at “barker” sa mga jeepney station. Pero ayon sa kanilang mga kaibigan ay natutong gumamit ng droga na nagsimula sa rugby, pero bandang huli ay kumita dahil “naghahatid” na rin daw ng droga o naging “runner”. Kung minsan pa daw ay may kausap silang mga pulis.

Ang hinala, ay mismong mga pulis na sangkot sa droga pero hindi natanggal sa puwesto ang may kagagawan ng pagpatay upang hindi sila maituro pagdating ng panahon. Pinapatay nila ang mga nakakakilala sa kanila upang pagdating ng panahon ay hindi sila maituro. Kapag “lumamig” na ang sitwasyon dahil isinusunod na ang “corruption” kaya siguradong hihina ang operasyon laban sa droga, asahan ang mga bagong “set” ng drug pushers at runners. Hindi naman kasi nasisira ang shabu kahit itabi ng kung ilang taon….pwedeng ibenta after six years kung wala na si Duterte.

Ang Pagkamatay ni Espinosa..."Pagpapatahimik" lang kaya? o "Sabotahe" kay Duterte!

ANG PAGKAMATAY NI ESPINOSA…“PAGPAPATAHIMIK” LANG KAYA?
 O  “SABOTAHE” KAY DUTERTE!

Dapat noon pa lang ay inilipat si Espinosa sa Manila bilang pag-iingat sa kanyang seguridad dahil hindi pa siya tapos sa pagsisiwalat tungkol sa operasyon ng droga sa Visayas, sa kabila ng pagbanggit niya ng maraming pangalan. Ayon sa anak niyang si Kerwin na nakakulong sa Abu Dhabi, may mga pulis sa kanilang probinsiya na involved sa operation nilang mag-ama, kaya maaari pa siyang magpahamak ng mga taong nasa Visayas lang. Isa ito sa mga maaaring dahilan upang siya ay patahimikin. Malaking tulong sana ang mga sasabihin ni Espinosa sa mga ginagawa ni Duterte laban sa droga kung hindi ito pinatay sa loob ng kulungan. Kung hindi maparusahan ang may kagagawan ng kamatayan ng matandang Espinosa, lalabas na kaya palang paikutan o lokohin si de la Rosa ng mga taong akala niya ay mapapagkatiwalaan niya…yan ay dahil sa SOBRA niyang tiwala sa mga pulis, na mismong nagpapakiramdaman sa isa’t isa. Maaaring pinagtatawanan siya ng mga pinalampas niya!

Hindi dapat magbulag-bulagan si Duterte at de la Rosa sa katotohanang hindi lahat ng mga tiwali sa gobyerno ay natanggal sa puwesto dahil sa isyu ng “illegibility” nila….kasama na diyan ang mga pulis na ang mga pinaghihinalaang iniimbestigahan ay itinapon lang sa Mindanao. Hindi rin lahat ng mga naiwang bulok na mga ordinaryong empleyado at opisyal ng BJMP ay panig kay Duterte. May takot man sila sa bagong presidente ay hanggang pagkimkim na lang sila subalit nadagdagan ng pagkainis dahil natigil ang kanilang raket. Dahil sa layunin ng presidente laban sa droga na dapat ay mawala ang mga sangkot, inaasahan ng mga bugok na itong sila pa ang papanigan palagi….at kasama na diyan ang nangyari kay Espinosa…na dahil tumahimik na ay wala nang maituturong kasabwat!

Mula sa isa pang anggulo, ang insidenteng pagpatay kay Espinosa ay isang “high level” na pagpapatahimik sa mga taong pwedeng magkanulo ng mga kasabwat nila at hindi pwedeng walang kinalaman ang mga tiwaling pulis at opisyal ng gobyerno. Ang “low level” na pagpapatahimik ay ginagawa naman ng mga drug lords at mga “police ninja” na pumapatay ng dati nilang “drug runners” at “drug pushers” upang hindi sila maituro pagdating ng tamang panahon. Dahil sa pagkamatay ni Espinosa, maaalala ang nangyari sa mag-asawang sinasabing drug lords na pinatay sa Caticlan, na nangakong magsisiwalat ng mga importanteng impormasyon tungkol sa drug operation sa Iloilo at mga karatig-probinsiya, at nakakonekta din sa mga Espinosa. Dahil sa pagpamatay ng mag-asawa nakahinga ng maluwag ang mga drug distributors at mga protector nila sa isla ng Panay.

Sa isang banda naman, pwedeng lumabas na sinabotahe si Duterte. Alam na ng lahat na todo ang pag-iingat ng administrasyon tungkol sa operasyon laban sa droga lalo pa at darating na sa susunod na taon ang arbitrator ng United Nations upang mag-imbestiga sa extra-judicial killings sa bansa, batay sa imbitasyon ng Malakanyang. Dahil diyan, walang dahilan upang mismong taga-administrasyon ang magpapatay kay Espinosa lalo pa at tumutulong ito sa pagtagpi-tagpi ng mga koneksyon ng mga drug operations sa Visayas na umalagwa hanggang Mindanao at Manila at makakadagdag ang tulong na maibibigay ng anak na si Kerwin sakaling maiuwi na ito sa Pilipinas.  Makakatulong sana ang mag-ama sa pagbigay ng impormasyon sa arbitrator ng UN upang mapatotohanan ang mga sinasabi ni Durterte tungkol sa matinding paglala ng problema ng droga sa bansa. Nauwi sa wala ang lahat dahil sa sobarang tiwala ni de la Rosa sa mga kapulisan at ng DOJ sa mga tauhan nitong nagbantay kay Espinosa….nagpabaya sila dahil sa over self-confidence. Akala nila ay wala na silang problema dahil popular si Duterte. Upang ipakita ng DOJ at PNP na patas sila, dapat ay kasuhan ang LAHAT ng pulis at empleyado na may kinalaman sa pagkamatay ni de la Rosa….ang kamatayan ni Espinosa ay isang malaking ebidensiya ng kapabayaan na hindi na kailangan ang imbestigasyon.

Dahil sa mga pangyayari, dapat ay mag-ingat ang presidente sa mga susunod pang mga pagsasabotahe na ang isa ay siya mismo ang nagbanggit – ang serye daw ng rally o demonstrasyon laban sa kanya sa susunod na taon. Ang gumagastos daw sa mga sabotahe ay isang mayamang babaeng Negra-Amerikana, na kung tingnan ng mataman ang isa sa mga koneksiyon ay nakaturo sa dating administrasyon.

Ang malinaw na pagsanib- puwersa ng mga detractor na nasa bansa at financiers nila sa Amerika laban kay Duterte ay talagang malaking problema. Kung sabihin ni Duterte palagi na wala siyang magagawa kung sakaling magtagumpay ang mga magpapabagsak sa kanya dahil sa sinasabi niyang “destiny” niya, magiging unfair siya sa mga nagtiwala sa kanya. Dapat ay bigyan din niya ng importansiya ang mga nagsusuporta sa kanya. Dapat alalahanin din nya na kung pagkatiwalaan lang niya ang mga Pilipino, ang People Power na nagpabagsak kay Marcos noon ay pwede din niyang sandalan ngayon. Kung noon ay diktatorya lang ang kalaban ng mga Pilipino, ngayon pa kaya na ang kalaban ay droga at krimen na kalaban din ng buong mundo?


Leksiyon ang pagpatay kay Espinosa para kay Duterte. Hindi siya dapat magpaka-kampante sa LAHAT ng mga pinagkakatiwalaan niya.

Friends who do not know much about my past will surely be surprised by my declaration in the title of this blog. Though it is very embarrassing, I have to do it to explain why I hate illegal drugs so much. On the other hand, those who knew me in PAL, will be equally surprised and be wondering how it could have happened as I finished my college in a “parochial school” of a far-flung and a struggling town, having just been weaned from her “mother municipality”, hence, expected to be free from bad influence, unlike Manila and other big cities where marijuana and other vices had been proliferating as early as the 1960’s.

What happened to me is happening today in remote areas as the evil of illegal drug is spread by notorious drug lords and their pushers. The pusher entices his unsuspecting victims after friendship with them has been established. That was what exactly happened to me when I was in college. My awareness about marijuana, though, came when I was yet in high school, when two transferees, one from Manila and another from Iloilo City were belatedly admitted in our school. Not known to my schoolmates, they were smoking marijuana in any available vacant room and since nobody among us knew what marijuana looked and smelled, whatever whiff of the smoke that got into our nostrils was not given much attention. We did not mind the two, as we thought they were just smoking ordinary cigarettes. They were able to attract followers because of their image as “City boys”. The guy from Iloilo City introduced me to the peculiar smell of marijuana, while smilingly inviting me to try it, but I declined…he left our town the following year. On the other hand, the guy from Manila stayed to pursue his college studies, albeit, irregularly, in our school.

When I entered college, another transferee from Manila who was admired in the way he dressed himself with the then, popular brand “Golden Award” shirts and denims, was admitted. He got close to the guy from Manila, as he was also into the same vice… smoking marijuana. Unfortunately, I got close to them via music, as one of them was very adept in playing the guitar. He taught me how to pluck the notes of the popular American folk song, “House of the Rising Sun”, aside from the strumming techniques for other songs. They also got close to one of my best friends, who l learned later to have gotten hooked to marijuana which forced his parents to stop from sending him to school.

The simple friendship developed into the influence that I unknowingly imbibed from such relationship. My classmates did not know that I spent at least one hour with them before attending my classes. During the time I was with them, we enjoyed singing folk songs and sniffs of marijuana. I had my free sniffs as I was literally only a hanger-on in their company. Later, they introduced me to “Madrax”, a depressant that came in tablets and capsules, which they told me got a stronger kick than marijuana, and better taken with two bottles of beer. They gave me tablets for free. Later on, they tried to introduce me to “Corex”, a cough syrup that I declined because of its taste.

Those were the days when some of my classmates noticed changes in my behavior, such as avoiding their company and kicking chairs inside the classroom if I caught them staring at me. Despite what happened to me, I was able to hold on to my slot in the Dean’s List every semester which I direly needed to maintain my scholarship, as well as, my job as a “working student” (janitor, assigned to clean the whole building of the Training Department). The job was granted to me by Fr. Robert O. Sullivan, O.M.I. , the school Director, who got exasperated due to my pestering plea to him that I needed it so badly. At first he declined as there would be some sort of duplication of benefits because while the job entailed a monthly allowance, I would also be enjoying an academic scholarship. In other words, the job would have been better given to another needy student. But when he learned that I was an orphan and on my own since high school, he finally conceded. He was also delighted when I told him that I got his book, “Imitations of Christ” that I won in the extemporaneous writing contest when I was yet in First Year High School and pitted against the upper class students. Although the Irish priest was known to be strict, I got close to him because of that book as he would always ask me about it.

Some friends did not leave me in my distress, and one of them was Ruel Lucentales (who at the time of his demise was a DSW Assistant Secretary). Although, somewhat fearful and apprehensive, another friend, Erna Diaz (who today works as Consultant in a school after retiring as Principal of Notre Dame of Isulan), also stood by to add her support to the effort of Ruel. Our closeness was such, that Ruel and I called Erna our “agot” or youngest sister in the dialect. The three of us were taking the same course, Bachelor of Arts (English/History).

Every school day, Ruel would fetch me at my quarters in the Training Department as early as 1PM, to make sure that I did not stray into the company of my drug-using friends. We would meet Erna in the library or any of the rooms vacated by high school students for the shift of college students. At this juncture, a special friend, Tessie de la Vega also stood by me. She brought honors to the school with her streak of triumphs in the inter-school elocution competitions that brought her to Cotabato City and Koronadal City. They practically became my cordon sanitaire, as while in school, I was with both Ruel and Erna being classmates, after classes in the evening I was obliged by Tessie who was taking another course, to walk her home. On weekends, she would also check me at my boarding house (Biἧas residence) during which she would bring gifts such as home-made pickled papaya or “achara” and other delicacies, to show that she was among those who sincerely cared for me.

My life made a complete turnaround when I was hired by Claudio Estante, to work as his lone assistant in the newly-opened Department of Social Welfare that served the whole province of Sultan Kudarat. The province was virtually in turmoil due to conflicts between the Christian “Ilaga” and Islamic “Black Shirts” since the start of the 1970s but reached its peak when I was in fourth year college. Assured that I passed my course and foregoing the graduation ceremony, after thanking Mr. Estante for his trust, I went to Manila to undergo medical check -up and training for a job in Philippine Airlines, that brought me to Tablas (Romblon) for my first assignment.


This revelation is embarrassing, but I had to do it if only to show the viciousness of illegal drug. I would shiver every time I recall those days. Had it not been for my three friends, I might not have had the chance to work with DSW, an airline, finish a book, and most especially….be blogging now! I am thankful that the adage, “regrets happen last”, did not apply to me. I can also honestly say that God indeed, is good…as I have proven it…but such goodwill must be earned by dint of hard work which I can honestly say, I did!

It is easy for some people to condemn the perpetrators of death outside the court of justice -the extrajudicial killings of the drug pushers and drug lords. For them such despicable act is unfair as those dead were not given a day in court. In other words, their death is uncalled for, unjust and unfair. BUT…. what about the victims who are also humans? Don’t they have similar rights to life, most especially, unlike the killed crooks, they keep their keeps by dint of hard work and honesty? When drug pushers did their thing before they got killed, they were aware of the consequence of their malevolent act, yet they went ahead in their desire to earn dirty and easy money, and more so with the drug lords. Some people have the guts to defend the right to life of the killed criminals, when such right is supposed to end, where the right of the righteous ones begins.

In my reply to the comment of a friend who read my blog about de Lima, I mentioned about my wish for somebody to mediate between the senator and president Duterte, so that they can patch up their differences and work together in the spirit of reconciliation. But on second thought I now have a change of heart as I realized that despite the six years with the Commission on Human Rights and another six years as secretary of Justice, she did nothing much  about the drug menace.

On the other hand, the families of the victims of Maguindanao got depressed and disappointed when the promised sealing of the case was not realized despite the glaring evidences against the Ampatuans and their cohorts. The Mamasapano massacre until now is shelved…etc. Meanwhile, the drug problem even got worst during her last months with the DOJ, as many are now claiming that the raids she initiated at the Bilibid were all done for show. Her stint at the DOJ reeked of anomalies that are being investigated, and which lately brought her to the verge of emotional breakdown. In view of all those, I regretted having brought out such impossible wish for mediation…

There are positives on the character of some leaders who have been condemned, and that cannot be denied. For instance, despite the Marcos couple being viewed as “money greedy”, during their time there was a significant cultural and industrial leap that resulted to the emergence of Cultural Center complex in Pasay City, construction of the LRT which proves to be more reliable than the MRT of the later administration, the establishment of the special centers for heart and kidney, the improvement of the Philippine General Hospital facilities, and made the peso among the most stable currencies in the region, etc.  Pnoy Aquino’s nonchalant attitude toward issues some of which put him in the bad light, prevented the widening of the rift between his supporters and critics.

But in the case of de Lima, I cannot find any redeeming factor that could have lighten up her bad image today. Her supposedly last hurrah – the raids of Bilibid were believed to be a “moro-moro”.  Just a few days after her election as senator, she and Trillanes even gave out warnings to Duterte who, they promised will not have smooth sailing as president while they are at the senate.

Good for Trillanes because he maintained a low profile. But with, de Lima, she even instigated the compounding of her differences with the president by insisting a senate hearing on extrajudicial killing which is uncalled for due to its “historicity”, being purportedly done while Duterte was yet, the mayor of Davao. Her move was viewed as an impediment to the effort of Duterte in eradicating the drug menace in the country now that he is the president of the country. Duterte extended a hand to de Lima during his SONA, but despite the implied good intention of reconciliation, she went ahead with the senate hearing. De Lima should have treated the handshake as a sign that Duterte was willing to discuss confidential matters with her, just as he did to Robredo, who despite his early declarations of her as out of the Malacaἧan circle, was  given her coveted responsibility, as czarina of housing program.


Nevertheless, had de Lima manifested humility, it could have fortunately earned an act of reconciliation from Duterte. Good thing it did not happen, though, as those who voted for him may have cried “foul” due to the irreparability of the drug menace which to them developed into a humungous irreparable state, as she did nothing despite her 12-year powerful authority and clout before she became a senator.

SHABU…the poor man’s cocaine

The popularity of shabu as the “poor man’s cocaine” is deeply entrenched in the Philippines.  Cocaine is from a certain plant called “coca” (erythroxylum coca) that for thousands of years has been used by the natives of South America due its substance that could stimulate pleasure, aside from its use as medicine. The insurmountable extent of its influence today is such that it has created millionaires, aside from wrecking the future of the youth and brought havoc to many homes. It was banned in the United States as early as 1914.

The initial “extract” or cocaine base is crudely coaxed from the freshly harvested leaves that are mixed with lime, gasoline, and ammonia, and trod on for about four days in a vat. The “base” is then refined by a larger “laboratory” using acetone, ether, and hydrochloric acid to form crystalline powder or cocaine hydrochloride. In this form, the drug is smuggled throughout the world, including the Philippines via transit points.

Medically, cocaine is used as a local anesthesia due to its ability to block the conduction of feelings by the nerve, aside from constricting blood vessels during an operation. The leaves are still chewed by the natives of the Andes using age-old contraption for the lime powder that lessens the bitterness of the juice. Archaeological digs also showed the use of coca by the natives of Andes mountain range, as an important offering to the gods, especially, to “Mother Earth”.

Many countries fell into to the “coca power” that gave birth to the so-called “narco-politics”. In many countries, not only did it transform obscure personalities into influential millionaires by penetrating the mainstream of the society. In the Philippines, findings lead to the involvement of law-enforcement agents themselves, as well as, lawmakers in this illicit trade. The craving to earn more by trading recycled confiscated drugs out in the streets using “runners” drove some policemen into its trap. It is alleged too, that the election of some politicians into coveted position in the government has been financed by drug lords. But the worst consequence is its invasion of reputable offices, school campuses, and even impoverished homes in slums!

The new president, Rodrigo Duterte has mentioned that unless something is done to put a check on this “epidemic”, the Philippines shall be well within its strangling, deathly grip in about seven years. And, by all means, he is doing his best with the able support of the new Philippine National Police chief, Ronald de la Rosa.


Personally, I see the duo’s effort as some kind of a political will….that, Filipinos have been expecting from the past leaders.
