Filling Life with
Love
(for Serf and Mei Bernardo)
By Apolinario Villalobos
Life is hollow without love -
It’s like a stream with dried up bed
It’s like a forlorn tree bare of leaves
It’s like a field of dying, wilting grass
And a summer sky that hurts the sight…
Without a streaking bird in flight.
Life like a basket can be filled -
With gladness every day as we live
With compassion that we can show
With patience that we may persist
And love that overflows joyously, too…
Without leaving a space for sorrow.
