Do
not impulsively strike a mosquito
…on
a friend’s face
By Apolinario Villalobos
A mosquito bite hurts, but striking it on
impulse while it is on the face of an unknowing friend shall add to pain. It is
better to warn him first that you will strike the mosquito, so that he will be
ready for the ensuing pain.
It is like hurting a friend if told point
blank that some of his actuations are putting him off the tract, resulting to
unsavory impression on his person. Such advice should be given in a way that it
will not offend him. His actuations have unconsciously hurt his person more
than enough, and our telling him about it is like putting salt to a wound if we
are not cautious.
Truth hurts, but if such hurt can help a
friend, we should feel obliged to give it to him, though, in a subtle way.
Friends are supposed to help each other. A friend is expected not to bear in
seeing a buddy being lambasted with nasty remarks, as he turns his back. Also,
a friend is supposed to be ready with an extended hand to help a buddy in times
of need. And, there is no other better time for such need than when a friend is
being hurt.
